Loan Officer

Job Function: Responsible for interviewing applicants for loans and processing various loan applications. Gathers background information and analyze loan applicant’s credit history. Prequalifies applicants based on loan policy requirements . Submits applications to underwriters for approval, denial, or counter-offer.

Responsibilities and Duties

•Assist members with the loan application process to ensure completeness of information.
•Gather background information on loan applicants, obtain credit bureau reports, calculate debt ratios, applies HYLS scoring model to the application.
•Pull credit reports for all accounts, verify debts, estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed and add in calculation.
•Take loan applications over the phone as needed and conduct loan interviews.
•Process applications from the online queue and prepare them for submission to the underwriter
•Communicate all loan decisions to the member within one hour.
•Responsible for meeting production and other sales goals on a monthly basis.
•Determine collateral needs and payment plans for members applying for loans.
•Explain reasons for denial and explore options for members applying for loans.
•Complete loan documents and disburse funds when required.
•Cross-sell Credit Union products and services.
•Provide financial counseling to members as needed.
•Participate in weekly loan review meetings.
•Maintain orderly loan files with supporting documents.
•Assist members waiting for member service as needed.
•Assist with maintaining the Visa Portfolio (account set-ups, upgrades, follow-up actions, processing, etc.)
•Assist in any area as directed by the Loan Manager

Qualifications & Requirements
High School Graduate; minimum two years college education and two years lending experience preferred.

Dedicated and willing to give 110%, to get the job done
Good interpersonal skills
Good sales skills
A sense of urgency to book high quality loans
Some Computer skills, (MS Word or Word Perfect, Excel or Lotus123)
Organization and problem-solving skills
Time Management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Flexible hours and some Saturdays
