Job Description
Medical Administrative Assistant
To qualify for this position at the GS-7 level, you must meet the following requirement: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) in Federal Service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the Medical Administrative Assistant position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: performing administrative duties in relation to routine and non-routine hospital registration/admissions; advising on matters of eligibility as they relate to patient care and treatment; assisting hospital staff with medically related legal problems; preparing hospital reports; processing patient transfers to other facilities for care/treatment; authorizing beneficiary travel; and providing other related administrative support work in a health care facility; interpersonal and communication skills with the capability of working with a variety of individuals from diverse social and economic backgrounds; coping with a wide variety of problems and resolving them quickly and decisively; and knowledge of medical terminology, electronic medical records and hospital procedures are required. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title; duties; month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.
