How you will make an impact

Perform the design and implementation of manufacturing processes, instrumentation and equipment from the laboratory through pilot plant to manufacturing scale.

What you will do

• Recommend processes for the production of FDA regulated products
• Assist the manufacturing operation in problem solving with regards to equipment and systems
• Establish operating equipment specifications and improve manufacturing techniques
• Interface with various departments to ensure processes and designs are compatible for new product technology transfer and to establish future process and equipment automation technology
• Responsible for all Factory automation on the manufacturing floor.
• Be a proponent for all safety regulations and a leader in practicing good safety standards. The position is responsible for maintaining and enforcing safe working practices by all members of the engineering department staff.
• Develop and maintain a recordkeeping system that retains information on equipment down time that includes when and why a breakdown occurred, and exactly what steps, parts, equipment, and/or tools were used to return equipment to service.
• Develop and maintain written programs on production equipment that include preventative maintenance schedules and critical spare parts lists. Leading the preventative maintenance process, defining processes, driving improvements and achieving KPI targets
• Develop and maintain a team of motivated, productive and positive team by selecting, training, coaching, counseling and taking appropriate corrective action when needed.

• Demonstrate effective communication skills, including influence and persuasion
• Demonstrate analytical thinking and keen judgment and decision making
• Perform additional duties and/or projects as assigned.

How you will get here

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field Preferred but not required
• 5-8 years of related experience
• Prior managerial/supervisory experience that includes coaching, developing, mentoring, etc. preferred
• Experience in Biotechnology Manufacturing, preferred
• Proven ability to achieve objectives by establishing a vision, determining strategies and directing resources
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with ISO 9001, 13485 and or GMP, preferred
• Experience with V&V
• Solidworks software experience is a must

• Experience drafting specification documents required

• Experience with automation assembly, manufacturing, and testing
• Experience designing, building, assembling, wiring equipment
• Experienced leading continuous improvement programs and implementing tools such as Practice Process Improvement, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, etc. preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Analytical problem solving skills critical to this role
• Demonstrated competence in engineering techniques and fundamentals
• Effective team collaboration skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in the use of engineering techniques, equipment and materials
