This newly defined Development Director position will work in partnership with the chapter Executive Director, Regional and National teams, and chapter staff, to locally operationalize the organization's national strategic plan around growth. The primary focus is on high-capacity supporter engagement through signature fundraising opportunities. The Development Director will lead this integrated functional department providing vision, planning, tactics and outcome analytics to help influence short, mid, and long-term scalability in this area of the business. Unique to this market is the Seattle Guild, steeped in a robust history of multi-layered successes and enormous mission-driven impact. This position will guide the plan and execution to build out the Seattle Guild to best reflect the interests of the current and future philanthropists in the greater Seattle market desiring to engage in JDRF's mission through this special gathering of individuals and families. This position will provide visionary oversight to scale this multimillion-dollar event while concurrently supervising the staff team who executes the critically important daily fundraising functions. Other signature activities include the annual Golf Classic, cultivation and impact events, and vital 1"1 ongoing supporter engagement. Included with the Development Director's roles and responsibilities will be high-impact committee development, Board and key stakeholder development, and community development around this specific area of business. Supervision of a team of three or more staff. Full integration with the peer-to-peer development activities of the Chapter will be key to a donor centric, holistic approach to maximize supporters' experiences throughout their JDRF engagement lifecycle.
Revenue accountability of more that $3MM annually with desired (minimum)5% YOY growth.
Identifies and drives new stand-alone and cross-functional high-capacity engagement opportunities (fund development opportunities), ideally aligned with Seattle Guild expansion.
Develops and executes plans for retention, upgrade and acquisition (pipeline development) of applicable area of business focus.
Leads visionary efforts and growth plans on all signature activities.
Supervises signature activity development and support staff.
Secures and manages a portfolio of individual, families, and corporate relationships to achieve the desired objectives of short, mid and long-term planning.
Develops and implements a year-round pipeline development and move management process for new business.
Ensures top level customer service (Constituent Relationship Management) with all relationships. Collaborates and integrates effectively with all chapter staff and volunteers and provides subject matter expertise in trainings, meetings, and presentations as needed.
Understands and works with all applicable online tools with emphasis on tracking of all significant plans, opportunities, and activities in the Salesforce CRM database.
Identify, recruit, and maintain strong volunteer committee(s) to facilitate growth through leveraging connectors, cultivators, solicitors, and stewards.
Serves as the primary point person for all signature activity, providing year-round 'campaign minded' strategic and tactical direction.
Works with Executive Director and staff in developing assigned budgets and timelines.
Participates in staff and volunteer meetings as assigned, representing objectives and needs for assigned responsibilities.
Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Represents the best interests, professionalism, and integrity of JDRF in all activities and relationships through a unified message of JDRF's mission and a commitment to organizational standards and leadership by personal example.
Bachelor’s Degree required. CFRE a plus.
More than five years of nonprofit high-capacity donor activity and success in generating revenue in the high 5, 6, and 7 figure range.
More than five years of direct or matrix supervisory responsibility.
More than five years of volunteer team recruitment, development, retention, and stewardship experience.
Team player who has the ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
Familiarity with volunteer/staff partnerships in achieving desired outcomes.
Capability to leverage relationships and negotiate agreements.
Exceptional management, leadership, and team-building skills.
Superior active listening, observation, analytical, and problem recognition and solving skills.
Exercises sound judgement on a consistent basis.
Solid understanding of budgets and profit and loss statements.
Understanding of computer systems and databases. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint), Salesforce
Excellent written, oral, and communication skills. Ability for presentation delivery, conveying ideas, and instructing effectively.
Ability to travel locally required. Occasional overnight travel for meetings..
Occasional evening and weekend work required as needed without issue.
