Lab Custodian - Weekend
Lab Custodian
Reports to: Manager of Security / Janitorial
Employment Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Coralville
Department: Facilities
Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7:00am - 7:00pm
Shift may change to Sunday-Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm Post-Covid once shift segregation measures end.
Purpose statement:
The Lab Custodian performs general laboratory upkeep to aid in the production of oligonucleotides.
Job Specific Essential Functions:
Performs lab cleaning, includes but is not limited to: surface decontamination, equipment decontamination, washing glassware.
Stores and organizes lab equipment in the proper manner.
Prepares tubes, plates and other labware for use as necessary
Maintains electronic records of tasks performed
Performs administrative tasks
Complies with the requirements for an ISO 9001 and ISSO 14001 environment.
Performs necessary safety, emergency, and cleaning procedures.
Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values
Performs other duties as assigned
Position Specific Essential Functions:
Crushes glass when necessary
Applies proper expiration dating to reagent/cleaning labels
Adheres to safety regulations, lab SOPs, and contamination controls
Performs tasks outlined by the Maintenance Connection schedule within the given time period
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent OR three or more years of verifiable custodial experience required.
Experience:
Working knowledge of computer software (email, Microsoft Word) required
Previous laboratory and chemical handling experience preferred
