Director of Stewardship
Director of Campaign Strategy and Initiatives
Position Summary:

We seek an experienced, positive leader for the role of Director of Development in LSA Advancement. Our development team is exceptionally high-performing, professional, polished, and fun. We celebrate a culture of hard work and outstanding results, while always staying connected to our organizational mission and values.

You will guide and mentor four senior managers who lead major giving, stewardship, annual giving/external relations, and campaign/development communications. You will foster a collaborative approach within these teams, between development and other LSA Advancement teams, within the College, and across the University of Michigan campus. Additionally, you will serve as a proactive, transparent, energetic leader on the Advancement Strategy Team (along with the Assistant Dean, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, and Director of Operations), representing the donor experience at all levels and helping to strengthen our mission, values, and culture, Advancement-wide.

Salary Range: $205,000 - $225,000. Salary based on experience.

Your vision and drive will shape our success in these key areas:

Creating a compelling vision for integrating fundraising, stewardship, and donor communications
Building fundraising strategy around college fundraising priorities, including launching the next fundraising campaign
Implementing a comprehensive donor stewardship plan
Presenting powerful donor and alumni engagement opportunities, maximizing virtual and in-person events
Delivering high quality development communications on behalf of the Dean and LSA
Using data to drive fundraising success, across all teams
Fostering career paths and professional development opportunities for staff
Serving with enthusiasm and transparency on the Advancement strategy team, representing the donor experience at all levels and helping to strengthen our mission, values, and culture, Advancement-wide

Qualifications & Requirements
Required Qualifications*
Education: bachelor’s degree
Minimum 7-10 years’ experience leading and managing high performing development staff
Deep experience working with two or more of the following development functions: annual giving, major giving, external relations, stewardship, development communications
Demonstrated ability to work well in a collaborative, team-based, positive work environment
Demonstrated impeccable attention to detail
Outstanding ability to motivate, support, and galvanize staff across development functions
Knowledge of and experience with positive workplace culture, behaviors and practices
Desired Qualifications*
It would be great if you already have:

Experience in fundraising and team management in a liberal arts setting
Substantial experience in higher education development
Knowledge of alumni constituent databases and technology-based stewardship solutions
