The School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) overarching mission is to contribute to the protection of the Earth's resources and the achievement of a sustainable society. Through research, education, and outreach, the faculty, staff, and students are devoted to generating knowledge and developing policies, techniques, and skills to help practitioners manage and conserve natural resources to meet the full range of human needs on a sustainable basis.
The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Training and Recruitment Specialist supports the development of DEI material to achieve faculty and staff learning for The School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS). You will build diversity awareness across internal and external channels and promote community outreach to increase organizational recruitment and retention. In fulfillment of this objective, the DE&I Training and Recruitment Specialist will support the SEAS’ Diversity Strategy and build relationships to promote DE&I activities and improve cross-cultural communication with stakeholders.
You will work with the DE&I Faculty Director to help develop training material necessary for the success of the SEAS community.

Provide faculty and staff with DE&I professional development opportunities through training and workshops focused on social identities.
Broaden faculty engagement and participation in decolonizing curriculums.
Discuss training needs with faculty and staff and provide recommendations based on a variety of DE&I topics.
Advise and provide support to multiple offices and leadership within SEAS on special DE&I programs.
Serve on hiring committees and ensure that bias and inequities are addressed.
Partner with SEAS HR to develop pipelines for graduate and postdoctoral through immersive programs.
Help develop grants and proposal writing for funding agencies to collect financial resources for future DE&I initiatives.
Work with University DE&I partners such as the Center for Research, Learning and Teaching (CRLT) and other schools on campus to build synergies and establish ongoing collaboration.
Bachelor's degree in social sciences and three or more years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in coalition building and engaging diverse stakeholder groups.
Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize new issues while maintaining a focus on long-term goals.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including experience presenting workshops, classes, information sessions, and individual/group meetings.
Demonstrable organizational skills, attention to detail, prioritization, and follow-through.
Experience in gathering, analyzing and using assessment data.
A Master’s degree preferred.
Grant writing and budget management experience preferred.
