What you’ll be doing...

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with and advocate before Members of Congress and their staffs with responsibility for representing Verizon before Democratic members of Congress.
  • Manage stakeholder service escalations through to conclusion.
  • Coordinate with state government affairs to manage stakeholder inquiries on issues related to the network and related issues.
  • Work with internal leadership team to develop VZ’s federal legislative objectives and priorities.
  • Work with external team leads to develop and execute a legislative strategy to achieve specific policy objectives, with a focus on medium and long term strategy.
  • Track Congressional activity including: Committee hearings and markups as well as floor action on legislative priorities.
  • Coordinate messaging on issues/legislation and for hearings, mark-ups, and floor votes in the House and Senate.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with professional networking with specific line of sight into Congressional Democratic politics.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Established network of professional relationships with specific line of sight into Congressional Democratic politics.
  • Professionally sophisticated problem solver with the ability to understand conflicting dynamics and collaborate on mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Ability to rapidly assess potential risks, benefits and consequences and effectively counsel internal clients concerning business risks.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Exceptionally strong written and oral communication.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
