Manager, Research Grants Financial Analysis

About This Position

The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine's Office of the Executive Dean for Research has an exciting career opportunity for a Manager, Sponsored Programs. The Manager, Sponsored Programs oversees fi
nancial and administrative aspects of the Office of the Executive Dean for Research. This position operates with the objective of increasing sponsored funding levels and the output of funding proposals, as well as maximizing the use and efficacy of existing research funding dollars. Additionally, the Manager, Sponsored Programs develops and implements policies and methods that are most effective to that end.

The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

The Manager is part of the sponsored programs administration team that manages service and provides guidance and direction to specific Medical School departments assigned within the Research Development Support team.

The individual is an integral partner in submitting proposals to extramural sponsors for research, clinical trials, training, instructional and other sponsored activities and creates, reviews, and analyzes complex sponsored projects

Guide faculty through the multiple steps of pre and post award activity. Respond to faculty inquiries.

Maintain a portfolio of pre and post award activity.

Assist faculty with proposal submissions including budgets, justifications, formatting, interpretation of guidelines and final compilation. Check all materials for completeness and accuracy.

Work as a liaison between faculty and central/compliance offices.

Assist in the creation of tools to aid research-related activities including checklists, procedures, guidelines, workflows and other documents.

Create and maintain relationships with departmental staff, central staff and faculty. Work on research-related issues that cross organizational boundaries.

Assist faculty with post award activities including, preparation and interpretation of reports, forecasting, effort distribution and certification. Provide guidance o
n allowable and unallowable expenditures at both the budget stage and the post-award expenditure stage.

Monitor systems for required approvals, check validity of requests and approve as appropriate. Escalate questionable be requests to Senior Research Analyst or Manager.

Maintain timely data on research-related activities.

Maintain a current knowledge of grant regulations for various sponsors.

Contribute information and ideas related to area of responsibility in development of division/department/school-wide strategy and operational initiatives.

Ensures effective and efficient work flow and adherence to quality standards for program and self.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a closely related field of study as well as at least five years of relevant experience. Knowledge of business and management principles. Ability to direct, manage, imp
lement, and evaluate department operations. Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan. Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others. Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
