Assistant/Associate Professor We seek a dynamic and visionary scientist investigating important topics in plant pathology for a 9-month academic year tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Plant Sciences and Plant Pathology at Montana State University. The successful candidate will work both independently and collaboratively, and will use innovative and interdisciplinary approaches in studies that span from the cellular and molecular levels to the greenhouse and field. The successful candidate will develop a strong national and international research program, create and disseminate new knowledge to advance agriculture, and promote environmental stewardship at local, national, and international scales. Expectations for scholarship include receipt of extramural funding, publication in refereed journals, and presentation at scientific conferences. Teaching responsibilities will include both undergraduate and graduate courses based on the candidate’s expertise relevant to plant sciences and plant pathology with a departmental preference for needed undergraduate and/or graduate courses in epidemiology and field plant pathology (i.e., at least two 3-credit courses annually). The successful candidate will advise undergraduate and graduate students in academic and research activities. Depending on area of expertise, the candidate will also provide support to growers, crop advisors and other stakeholders in implementing best agricultural practices. The candidate will provide appropriate public, departmental, and university service. PhD in Plant Pathology, Virology, Microbiology, Plant Science, or related field. Post-doctoral experience and demonstrated productivity in basic and/or applied biological research relevant to plant pathology, virology, plant biology, or related field. Demonstrated potential for tenure in the Plant Sciences and Plant Pathology Department at MSU. Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish high-quality and original research, as indicated by publications in peer-reviewed journals. Potential to establish or evidence of having established an externally funded, competitive, and independent research program. Demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate instruction and mentoring in chosen field of study. Excellence in written and oral communications. Contact Information
