The Team

In June 2020, the foundation hired a Chief Communications Officer (CCO) and established a new Communications Division to oversee the foundationís global communications strategy. The division brings together internal and external communications to advance the foundationís mission of a more equitable world.

Office of the Chief Communications Officer

The Office of the CCO ensures resources are aligned against insights and strategic priorities. We advance the Communication Divisionís vision through clear processes and operations, ensuring close coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Communications Officer to support the Office of the CCO (OCCO) and work across the division to fulfill our strategic priorities. In this role you will provide support to the OCCO's top strategic and operational priorities. This includes developing presentation materials on behalf of the CCO and the division for internal and external audiences. Additional support to be provided for CCO including executive communications, executive voice and voice planning. The ideal candidate has knowledge of strategic communications in a global context, experience staffing a senior executive, and exceptional organizational and written communication skills.

This position could be based out of our offices in Seattle, WA or Washington, DC.

What Youíll Do

Provide support to the OCCO's top strategic and operational priorities. Support a range of functions for the Office including: 1) developing and executing an engagement strategy and activities for the CCO, 2) supporting cross-divisional operations that fall under the purview of the OCCO, and 3) contributing to and/or leading special projects that advance the CCOís and divisionís priorities.

Develop the CCO and divisionís engagement strategy for internal and external audiences and stakeholders, including planning and implementation. This includes briefings and preparation for division-wide, cross-foundation and external engagements.

Develop presentation materials on behalf of the division for various internal and external audiences, including leadership, other divisions, industry partners etc.

Develop onboarding program for new staff and internal transfers.

Maintain the divisionís Rhythm of Business and support preparation and follow-up for Communications Leadership Team (CLT) meetings, All-staffs, retreats, regular tactical meetings, etc.

Support the development and implementation of the divisionís learning agenda.

Other duties as assigned by the CCO and Chief of Staff.

Your Qualifications

Outstanding experience developing and implementing engagement strategies in a dynamic communications environment.

Strong research and presentation skills, and working knowledge of how to deploy various communications platforms to advance the divisionís stated goals.

Strong written and verbal, listening and facilitating skills, including on sensitive or critical topics.

Proven track record of leading and influencing others in a constructive manner and to build and sustain collaborative relationships.

Demonstrated complex project management skills and a successful track record of leading or handling multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to effectively alternate between thinking strategically and high-quality execution.

Alignment with our values, belief in our mission, and with the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Bachelorís with 7+ years of equivalent experience as a Special Assistant, policy analyst, management consultant, and/or communications strategy, executive voice, and employee engagement.
