Through the mentorship from our committed faculty, the Fellow will gain invaluable experience leading novel projects that align with their area(s) of interest and help to support ongoing departmental research projects. The overall goal of this program is for the Fellow to develop: foundational knowledge and principles of study design, conduct, and data analysis; exposure to different otolaryngologic and research disciplines; and expertise supporting an academic career in otolaryngology.

Fellows will collaborate with faculty and take a primary role in conducting research projects, preferably in multiple subspecialty areas. Depending on the Fellow’s interests, goals and existing skillset, projects could span a variety of research disciplines including retrospective and prospective clinical research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, population-based database mining, innovative product development, or basic science/translational research. Fellows will have the opportunity to complete projects already in progress, but when possible will oversee projects from initiation to completion. Preparation of abstracts for presentation at national meetings and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals is expected.

Qualified candidates must be have a bachelor's degree and enrolled in or have completed an MD training program.  The successful  candidate for the fellowship will have a strong interest in basic science and/or clinical research within otolaryngology, with prior experience in experimental design, data assessment/interpretation, scientific presentation, and scholarly writing.
