Job Description
Director, Early Development and Translational Sciences
Otsuka is searching for an experienced, energetic, creative, strategic and collaborative individual who will be a key contributor to the growth and optimization of Otsuka's discovery and early- phase CNS pipeline. The Director, Early Development and Translational Sciences (EDTS) will drive the planning and conduct of clinical translational studies, supporting evidence- based decision making for efficient advancement of our early-stage CNS compounds. They will provide subject matter expertise to cross-functional/matrix development teams for integration of biomarker strategies and relevant pharmacodynamic outcomes in clinical trials. A strong background in neuroscience is essential, with demonstrated track record of interaction with the expert community, as well as with public/private initiatives. He/she will have broad working knowledge of Phase 1-3 drug development, and relevant regulatory requirements.

Job responsibilities:
Cross-functional development team member representing the EDTS group for planning and conduct of Phase 1 translational studies, from concept stage through study execution and data analyses.
Provide Otsuka representation and participation as liaison to/with public and private stakeholders in the pre-competitive space to promote advancement of biomarker initiatives.
Provide internal leadership towards the integration of biomarker strategies for relevant CNS diseases/disorders.
Build and support growth of Otsuka translational medicine capabilities through collaboration with relevant external stakeholders.
Provide subject matter expertise for pre-IND CNS candidate advancement.
Provide subject matter expertise in the evaluation of potential in-license candidate compounds for the treatment of psychiatric and neurological disorders.
Review and support authoring of regulatory documents for CNS pipeline compounds.

Ph.D. and/or MD, with evidence of a strong background in neuroscience.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in CNS drug development, including 3 years of industry experience in the planning and execution of clinical translational studies.
